May 3, 2010 - Bob Mould and Sugar....music that helped me pull myself together when I was at the lowest point in my life. Life got better, and I am forever grateful for the great music that meant so much to me back then as it still does today.

NotMichaelVoet Says:

Aug 24, 2010 - Honestly I'm not a huge fan. They're talented musicians but I just think the song Is a little plain.

frankc32 Says:

Aug 25, 2010 - @NotMichaelVoet,context, context, context! Dude. Ever heard of Húsker Dú? Bob Dylan? Prince? Sugar? Jayhawks? Dave Pirner? Any of the Minnesota music scene? I know it was so subtle, maybe it slipped past you. Sometimes less is more, my friend. You do not always need to slam people over the fucking head to get your point across. I am still learning this, leaving a trail of rotting corpses in my wake... Cheers! FrankC32

Loqucious Says:

Aug 27, 2010 - @NotMichaelVoet: Bob is one of those artists that you really have to listen to over and over again to understand. He is a genius with regards to layering sounds. He uses guitar different than a normal guitar player would, he uses it more for effect and melody than rhythm. His hooks are brilliant and his vocal melodies and "harmonies" are unusual. I know this because I'm writing songs with a guitar player friend, and trying to emulate bob's style is extremely difficult, maybe impossible.
